Please join Friends of Griffith Park and UCLA Biologist Laurel Serieys to discuss the effects of urbanization on local bobcat populations, and find out how we can all make a difference.

Wildlife abounds in Los Angeles, with charismatic species like bobcats and mountain lions living in some of the most urban habitats in the city, such as the Hollywood Hills. Laurel will discuss the critical effects of urbanization on bobcats, mountain lions, and coyotes.

Rat poison is a widespread issue for bobcats across the Santa Monica Mountains, increasing susceptibility to mange and death. Learn how freeways and mange influence bobcat genetic health, and how mange acts as an agent of natural selection in urban bobcats.

Q & A will follow lecture.
